Napthine’s multi-million dollar promise to help prioritise senior citizens’ surgeries

Seniors will be given priority access to hip, knee and cataract surgery, as part of $85 million dollar plan being promised by Denis Napthine.

But while the Coalition was targeting the “grey vote”, it was also trying to neutralise the Greens.

It took three trains for the Premier and wife Peggy to travel from Parliament to Alamein, but behind in the polls, Dr Napthine was making the most of it.

The purpose of his trip was a visit to the local men’s shed to unveil the Seniors Health and Wellbeing plan.

The package includes:

• $32.4 million dollars to boost community-based mental health care

• $13.5 million for dementia research and support services

• $27 million dollars to increase seniors’ access to specific elective surgeries
